When it comes to choosing silver jewellery, buyers need to be sure that the jewellery they are buying is made from the highest quality sterling silver.  The simple rule of thumb is that all sterling silver that has been registered in this country should carry a hallmark.  These marks ensure that the silver meets UK laws for purity and quality.

Once the buyer is sure it is sterling silver jewellery, they can concentrate on finding that special piece to add to their collection.  There are two main types of sterling silver jewellery which are plain silver jewellery and silver gemstone jewellery or glass jewellery.

Plain silver jewellery is classically timeless and its understated style makes it ideal for every day wear.  This type of jewellery lends itself perfectly to classic floral designs or something more playful such as dolphins or entwined hearts.  Plain silver jewellery is exceptionally versatile and matches just about any outfit.

Silver gemstone jewellery is excellent for adding a dramatic splash of colour to liven up that little black dress.  Silver gemstone jewellery comes in a dizzying array of colours to suit your wardrobe with gemstones ranging from topaz and amethyst to ammonite fossil and red coral.  The individual designs for either type of jewellery can be as subtle or as bold as the buyer wishes.

When the buyer has decided which type of jewellery they prefer the next step is to decide what kind of piece they want.  Silver necklaces can range, for example, from simple, delicate chains to more striking pieces that are set with several different types of gemstones.

Likewise silver rings can be a plain, simple band or a more distinctive ring set with a magnificent gemstone that is a conversation piece in itself.  The choice is limitless.

There is a vast range of silver jewellery on offer with hundreds of new styles being added every day.

The common vacuum cleaner – friend to housewife, foe to dust and dirt. Beneath the surface, there lies a dark, sinister side to a vacuum cleaner and that is its ability to consume all that is front of it which may include silver jewellery.

I am sure we have all dropped jewellery at some stage only for the vacuum cleaner to come and gobble it up before even being noticed. I know I have had to endure splitting open a vacuum cleaner bag on numerous occasions in order to rescue an item that inadvertently found its way into the  bag of doom. I know my partner has lost countless earrings to vacuum cleaners over the years.

So it poses the question, are vacuum cleaners evil? If the answer is yes, is there any difference between upright cleaners or cylinder cleaners, which type of vacuum cleaner is more evil, or do the share the same billing

If your intention is to buy a new watch, you are about to enter a metaphoric minefield, with many potential pitfalls and detonation points. It is such a subjective item to purchase, that what can please you, can have the opposite reaction in the intended recipient.

When searching for designer watches, you have to know what suits you and what doesn’t. Other considerations are the form and functionality. This is irrespective of whether you are looking to buy for yourself of for someone else.

Whether your quest is for ladies watches or mens watches, your task will not be an easy one. Thinking in advance, with the recipient in your mind’s eye can help the situation and eventually save you some money. Before taking the plunge, there are some key considerations to bear in mind.

    Personality of the user

It is vital to consider the personality of the person for whom you are intending to buy a watch. If that happens to be yourself, then there is nobody better qualified to know what is appropriate. If you are buying a watch for someone else, you may have to make yourself aware of some important key points such as: whether he or she would be best suited to something showy with a bit of ‘bling’ and or just simple and elegant.

    Intended usage

Are you/they going to be using it outdoors whilst taking part in sports, or maybe for parties and evening occasions? Maybe it will be reserved for office use only, or possibly something robust that could cater for all of these scenarios.

    Budgetary consideration

Carefully consider the cost of the watch. If money is not an issue, you can please yourself where you go to shop without much of a care. If your budget is tight, remember to always stay within your comfort zone. There would be nothing worse than giving an expensive gift to someone only to reveal that it has financially embarrassed you!
